Begur, perched 200m above sea level on the edge of a massif that falls steeply to the sea, forming countless, delicate coves overhung in lush vegetation.

This is one of the most popular tourist centres of the entire Baix Empordà. Its important historic past stretches back to prehistory, although it reached its apex of glory in the feudal Medieval period. Begur Castle is the most emblematic symbol of this time. The town's architectural heritage constitutes one of its most characteristic elements. Some of these constructions were built by Begur "Indians", locals who went off to seek their fortune in Cuba.

Close to Begur is the small village of Esclanyar, with its Romanesque centre giving onto the most prestigious beaches of the Costa Brava - Aiguafreda, Aiguagelida, Aiguablava, Fornells, Illa Roja, Sa Punta, Sa Riera, Sa Tuna, Platja Fonda, which together form an irresistible attraction.

If sports are your thing, apart from marine sports, Begur's unbeatable location boasts three luxury golf courses, all within 10km: two at Pals, another at Gualta, and also a Pitch & Putt and a riding centre.
